AMERICANISM

Each year Post 9851 supports our National Youth Programs, such as Voice of Democracy and Patriots Pen, while our Auxiliary works with local schools by sponsoring their Patriotic Art contest. These programs have top National prizes like scholarships.
 
VFW Programs:
 
Voice of Democracy   (Link to submit entry)
 
  • Local high school age students compete at multiple levels for a chance to travel and win scholarships.
  • Annually, a new theme provides a topic to compose and present a short speech on.
  • Winners from the Post level advance to District, and possibly State and National levels.
  • Entries start around August, with submissions due by October 31. They can be delivered to the Post or submitted via an online portal specific to the student's local Post. Contact the Post for details.
 
Patriot's Pen    (Link to submit entry)
 
  • Local middle school age students compete at multiple levels for a chance to travel and win scholarships.
  • Annually, a new theme provides a topic to compose and present a short essay on.
  • Winners from the Post level advance to District, and possibly State and National levels
  • Entries start around August, with submissions due by October 31. They can be delivered to the Post or submitted via an online portal specific to the student's local Post. Contact the Post for details.

  • There are two categories, two-dimensional and three-dimensional art.
  • Winners from the Post level advance to District, and possibly State and National levels
  • Entries submissions are due by March 31. They need to be delivered to the Post. Contact the Post for details.
